Here are some tips to know on being a Student Ambassador:
- HAVE FUN, and enjoy yourself. This is a rare opportunity to meet
kids your age from around the country. Learn from them, and allow them to
learn from you!
- Act in a dignified manner. As a Student Ambassador, you are representing your
hometown, your state, and your school.
- Do not be afraid to make a
comment or hesitate to complement someone on a job well done.
- Ask questions, volunteer for activities, and be friendly.
- Everyone coming to an event like this, probably feels a little
anxious or nervous. Take the initiative to introduce yourself and strike up
conversations. Help out others who seem to be a little lost.
- Remember to share drawer and closet space with your roommates.
- Bring an umbrella or a rain jacket!
- Be prepared! Look over the itinerary and make sure you have
everything you will need for the day. As there could be changes in the
schedule, remember to check the itinerary posted in the hotel lobby. What I
did was pack all my stuff in a backpack that I took with me at all times.
- Remember to take notes. You will be assigned various educational
activities everyday whether it be reading a small passage or doing some
written
work. Do your homework!
- Keep track of time. Know where you have to be and when. If you are
late, everyone becomes late.
- Be respectful of others and listen to what they have to say. Whether
it be your delegation leader, tour guide, or fellow student delegate.
- Try to keep your room as tidy as possible. Throw away your garbage.
- Provide constructive feedback. Also, if there's anything you think
can make the World Leadership Forum better or more comfortable for other
students, don't be afraid to tell a delegate leader.
- Remember to use caution on the road, especially when crossing streets.
- Be respectful of the other hotel guests and keep the noise level
down. Don't hang around the hallways or corridors to socialize, use the
seating areas around the hotel lobby or other common areas.
- When you come back home, remember to share your experiences with family
and friends and others who encouraged you to participate in the World
Leadership Forum.
